One of Steve’s favorite quotes is “If you always do what you always did, you’ll always get what you always got – think change!” He loves learning, and with taxes and tax reform, there are constant opportunities to learn, grow, and help others. His approachability and focus on detail are just apart of what makes him a great accountant. Steve believes that client relationships are key. Working hard and his willingness to go the extra mile are central to his work ethic. Steve says, “I always try and provide the exact same service that I would expect if I were the client.” He was inspired to pursue accounting by his high school teacher, Mr. Huizenga. That inspiration led him to study accounting and finance in college.
Raised in Holland, Michigan, Steve still lives in his hometown with his wife Maria. Together they have one daughter, who was born on Valentine’s Day. One of his greatest joys is spending time with his family. Outside the office, Steve sits on the board of directors for Ottagan Addictions Recovery (OAR),where he serves as their treasurer. He also enjoys soccer, ultimate frisbee, and running.
